Asian Continental Report for ICOR Asian Conference

Written by: Alik Chakraborty / Asia Coordinator on July 4, 2026

The Asian continent has now become a focal point of imperialist conflict. The axis of US imperialism and  Zionist Israel are taking a heavy toll on the oppressed nations and peoples of Asia. In many places, the people are rising up against imperialist and expansionist aggression. Today, the overall politics of Asia revolves around the genocide of this axis of the Palestinians and agression of Iran. The consequences of this agression is not confined to these nations alone; it reverberates across Asia and the entire world. The resistance Iran mounted against the axis and their allies in middle East has shattered America's image as the world's foremost imperial superpower. The counter offensive of Iran not only compelled US to end the war of aggression but also pay 300 billion usd compensation to Iran. However, Iran has not achieved this in isolation; many nations of EU disapproved US aggression of Iran and imperialist powers like China and Russia stand behind Iran.

Recent international development is that the Russia has not been invited to G7 summit. That is a big signal of conflict within imperialist forces. Reality proves that America's unchallenged hegemony can no longer prevail. What was possible in the occupation of Iraq obviously is not be possible in the case of Iran. Cracks have begun to appear in the wall of long-standing unilateral dominance, and through these fissures emerges the dream of a new world - one where no nation can impose its will upon another. it has instilled a renewed sense of hope among the exploited and oppressed people worldwide. People are coming to realize that self-respect can only be preserved through resistance. The arrogance of power is not eternal; true strength lies in steadfast adherence to the path of justice.

History bears witness that the downfall of every empire begins with hubris. In the current global order, the sound of that hubris collapsing is clearly audible. Shattering the arrogance of hegemonic powers, this wave of new polarization demonstrates that the power of the working class is poised for a resurgence across Asia and the globe. The unity witnessed in the anti-imperialist protests across Europe and Asia following the devastation in Gaza is now being mirrored in the collective opposition to the attack on Iran.

China, the largest country in Asia, has consolidated its position as an imperialist power and has reached a stage where it can challenge US imperialism, allying with Russia, it is indirectly challenging US imperialism in conflicts-such as in Iran-while simultaneously establishing its dominance in the global market through low-priced goods. Beyond just commodities, it is challenging US hegemony in the realm of finance capital by introducing the Yuan as a medium of trade, replacing the Dollar. The erosion of the Dollar's absolute dominance has driven US Imperialism to desperation. Consequently, it has set out to directly subjugate the Arab world with Israel as an ally. Meanwhile, it is attempting to take effective measures against China across Asia; Taiwan is being incited against China. Above all, efforts are underway to pit India - the next largest Asian nation after China - against China through QUAD. (The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue members are Australia, India, Japan, and the United States.) The 11th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was hosted by India in New Delhi on May 26, 2026. Discussions focused on Indo-Pacific security and strategic resilience against China’s "growing military posturing". Although the Modi-NDA Indian government is aligned with US imperialism and trying to develop Indian state as a fascist state, India's long-standing policy of non-alignment and the Its membership in BRICS( 2001), SCO, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB) , New Development Bank (NDB) prevents it from directly confronting China. Furthermore, the vast disparity in military and economic power deters the Indian government from a direct confrontation with China.
While the Narendra Modi government has deviated from India's longstanding policies by supporting Israel and effectively positioning itself against Palestine, completely severing ties with China and Russia remains materially impossible; India is heavily dependent on Russia and China for global trade.

Meanwhile, the conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel has precipitated a widespread crisis regarding petroleum products across Asia. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has severely disrupted the movement of oil tankers, plunging the economies of many countries, including India.  The conflict exposed that 'Modi India's is a junior partner of imperialism, especially US Imperialism.

While a working-class uprising against imperialism has not yet materialized in any Asian country, the ousting of the president in Sri Lanka - followed by new elections and the establishment of a leftist government – marks a significant development in Southeast Asia. The massive student-youth uprising in Bangladesh (July Uprising) and the Gen Z movement in Nepal signal the disintegration of the old social order. Though Bangladesh movement turned mainly towards reactionary and fundamentalist forces but still people of Bangladesh is taking lesson from that. And now India has entered into a rule of fascist forces but historic peasant movement and recent workers movement in central India are sending message that fascism is not the ultimate word. The new generation has entered the fray, they have struggled to connect with the communist movement. This is not merely a matter of the protesters' consciousness'; it is largely the result of the theoretical disarray and setbacks that have plagued the socialist and communist movements over recent decades.

Besides, the Rojava movement and the movement of the leftists against the Erdoğan government in Turkey are playing an important role in the leftist and communist movement in Asia. The movement has played an important role in suppressing the ultra-radical Muslim fundamentalist force like ISIS.

The colonial past and reactionary ruling Classes of the post-colonial countries of Asia and the nei-colonialism of old and new imperialist powers are giving raise to severe armed conflicts between various neighbouring countries in Asia. Key strategic flashpoints include the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China, Kasmir question between India and Pakistan and the Korean Peninsula

Therefore, the tasks facing the global communist movement, as well as the working class and oppressed peoples of every Asian nation, are as follows:

1.  To strive for the unity of communist revolutionary forces within the country and building coordination among communist revolutionaries of all the countries.

2.  To support the palestine struggle against Israel Zionist plan and terrible action of genocide and occupation of Palestine territory and support Palestine state of UN resolution 181.

3. To stand against imperialist wars, and aggression on Iran by US-Israel axis.

4. To resist US imperialist attempts to violate the right of a nation's people to resolve their own internal issues.

5. To forge unity among the working class and oppressed peoples against reactionary ruling classes that act as imperialist lackeys.

6. To support struggles of oppressed nations in general and that of Kashmir in particular.

7. To combat ideologies of Zionism, militant Islamic fundamentalism, and Hindutva fascism across various nations

CPA (M-L) contribution to ICOR webinar on united front against imperialism

Written by: CPA (M-L) on 1 August 2023

On Sunday 30 July, a comrade from the CPA (M-L) made a short contribution to the discussion. As there were many participants from countries around the world, each person was limited to a 3-minute presentation. The comrade spoke without notes but has made the following written recollection of his comments.

........................

Greetings comrades,

Firstly, let me begin by acknowledging the more than 300 people, many of them young, who confronted Nazis at a Nazi recruitment event in Melbourne yesterday. Their defiance of these right-wing street thugs is a very good thing.

Secondly, I can report that in common with workers in other advanced capitalist countries, Australian workers are facing declining living standards as the ruling class seeks to control inflation by using the levers of unemployment and interest rates. As a result, more and more are finding it difficult to meet mortgage repayments and rent increases, adding to the crisis of homelessness. They are yet to find the path to organised resistance, partly due to the repressive industrial relations laws that make all but “protected” industrial activity illegal. Even so, outbreaks of struggle are taking place.

Thirdly, on the international situation.  In our region we are acutely conscious of the danger of war as the competition develops between Chinese social-imperialism and US imperialism. Even those who are friendly towards the US are increasingly worried by the government’s surrender of sovereignty to the US. Mass organisations with broad popular appeal are organising resistance to the US stranglehold over Australia. The Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) is one in which we work with former diplomats and politicians, with peace activists and others across a range of differing viewpoints, all wanting the Australian government to possess greater capacity for independent decision-making in matters of foreign policy. Alliances are being built across our region. An IPAN conference on the theme of a peaceful Pacific was held on July 29 with speakers from Australia, Okinawa, Guaham (Guam), Samoa and New Zealand.

Australia has recently joined the US and UK in the AUKUS alliance. This saw the cancellation of a contract for France to build conventional submarines in Australia in favour of a $368 billion contract with the US and the UK for eight nuclear-powered submarines. Even within the “defence” establishment there are criticisms of this arrangement. The submarines will not be based in Australian coastal waters, but will be “seamlessly interoperable” with US submarines off the coast of China. A new organisation, the Australian Anti-AUKUS Coalition is bringing together the rank-and-file of the governing Labor Party, unions and peace activists. A common demand is for the scrapping of AUKUS and the direction of the $368 billion towards the social problems of the working people.

A further consequence of AUKUS is that Australia must take responsibility for the disposal of nuclear waste from these submarines once they are decommissioned. For sixty years, the government has tried to impose a nuclear waste dump for intermediate and low-level waste on communities that have successfully resisted these proposals. Inevitably, they are proposed for “remote” locations on the lands of the First Peoples. We campaigned with the Barngarla people of South Australia, and the local farming community, to successfully block the latest dump proposal. The prospect of a future high-level nuclear waste dump will further boost the anti-nuclear movement.

Finally, let me acknowledge that many comrades at this ICOR meeting face far greater difficulties than those of us in countries like Australia. We pledge to do what we can to assist them in our joint struggle against imperialism.

Thank you.

ICOR condemns Turkish attack on South Kurdistan

Written by: ICOR on June 4, 2022

The International Coordination of Revolutionary Parties and Organisations (ICOR), to which our Party is affiliated, has issued a statement condemning the Turkish attack on South Kurdistan. The statement reads:

ICOR stands with the workers in Turkey and the Kurdish people

While the democratic mass movement is reviving, workers in Turkey fight for their labor rights, for rise in wages and better living conditions and the fascist Turkish state has once again launched a comprehensive military attack on South Kurdistan on 17 April.

This is a long-planned invasion with the strategic aim to eliminate the Kurdish freedom fighters, to occupy the whole region and to abolish all achievements of Kurdish people. But at the same time, it is a new offense of state terror and chauvinism against the growing mass movement, especially the rising workers movement, which organized independently over 100 wild strikes this year, more than in the last couple of years together.

With the support of the imperialists the Turkish state uses state terror against the mass movement and commits war crimes in Kurdistan. The collaborationist bourgeois leadership of Kurdish Democratic Party is directly involved in the invasion attack providing intelligence and the Iraqi state started an aggression against the Yazidi self-defense forces in Sinjar.

Simultaneously, the Turkish army and jihadist militias bomb Rojava while the Turkish police put a crackdown on democratic forces and alliances in Turkey. Political prisoners are tortured and murdered in Turkey.

The heroic resistance of the guerillas with mobile units and an effective tunnel system against air strikes will once again defeat the Turkish army but it needs the urgent solidarity and support of the workers, the democratic mass movements and all progressive people in the world.

As ICOR we stand by the fighting workers, revolutionaries, antifascists and anti-imperialists of Turkey and Kurdistan and condemn this war of occupation.

We salute the united struggle of the revolutionary forces in Turkey and Kurdistan, especially within the HBDH (People’s United Revolutionary Movement) and call all progressive people of the world to support the freedom forces and coordinate for an international and regional revolutionary unity. Active resistance everywhere is the only way to defeat this barbaric center of counter revolution in the region.

We will defeat fascism!
Long live the united revolution of Turkey and Kurdistan!
Long live socialism!

ILPS-ICOR Joint Statement On the Current Crisis of Capitalism amid Covid-19 Pandemic

Written by: ILPS-ICOR on 27 June 2020

The International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS) and the International Coordination of Revolutionary Parties and Organisations (ICOR) have issued a joint statement on the current crisis of capitalism and the Covid-19 pandemic. The CPA (M-L) welcomes this joint initiative of the two important organisations, working together through the Anti-imperialist and Anti-fascist United Front (AIAFUF).

AIAFUF (Anti-imperialist and Anti-fascist United Front )

Joint Statement On the Current Crisis of Capitalism amid Covid-19 Pandemic

The Industrial Age saw capitalism progress, with profits squeezed from human labor, great wealth amassed for a few, and the masses impoverished. The 20th century saw the rise of monopolies, formation of financial oligarchies, the export of capital, international combines, and a world divided and re-divided by war. It was also a battleground for socialism. The working-class and oppressed peoples fought, won and suffered setbacks. Yet, history goes forward.

The reintegration of former socialist countries into the world monopoly capitalist system aggravated the systemic and periodic crises of capital accumulation under capitalism. Before the close of the last century, a paradigm shift for neoliberalism and liberal democracy ruled. The U.S.-led “War on Terror” and several regime changes failed to revitalize the economy. Fascism reared its ugly head, passing the imperialist crisis onto the working people and poor nations.

The financial crash of 2008 has led to a worse crisis of the world capitalist system and to a far bigger fall of the financial and economic system in 2020, at a rate faster than that of the Great Depression of 1929 onwards. The neoliberal policy regime has become more bankrupt than ever, resulting in unprecedented accumulation and inflation of assets of the financial oligarchy and monopoly bourgeoisie, unsustainable debts, depression of the economy as the consuming public is impoverished and the escalating contest of the fascist and anti-fascist currents throughout the world.

The current plunge of the world capitalist system coincides with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic has become a greater crisis than it should be because the prevailing imperialist system and the current neoliberal economic policy has destroyed public health systems and also dictates to impose austerity on the people, further enforced by the neoconservative policy of increasingly repressive and militarist measures. The accelerated environmental crisis, as well, exacerbates the social, economic and health impacts of the pandemic and contributes to the emergence of new pandemics.

The number of the ailing and dying is staggering. Half of humanity is in lockdown. Desperate quarantine measures resulted in massive job and income losses. Suffering the most are workers, the unemployed, the youth, women and children, migrants, people of color, the rural poor, and those in congested jails.

Trillions of dollars, euros and yuan seek a way out of the crisis. The police and the military, the coercive powers of the state, enforce stricter lockdowns and quell dissent. The people, even at home, are restless. They want a way out of the crisis. They want a stable and sustainable future.

Over a century of imperialism, of profit-driven plunder and wars, killed millions of people and will not save humanity. The people are crying out for systems change. Use the social wealth created by the working people to guarantee jobs and incomes, provide economic relief and medical services. Redistribution of wealth, taxing the rich, is not enough. Bailouts should not be for corporations. Production and exchange should be for the people. Socialism is the only viable alternative. We must nationalise strategic sectors including banks and financial systems and put these in the hands of the workers. Now should be the era for the common good.

In line with our long-term aspirations, we assert these immediate and urgent demands:

1. Guaranteed incomes and benefits, cash grants and relief for the working people now.
2. Epidemic management upholding peoples’ rights, mass testing and adequate health services for the people.
3. Social protection for the farmers, workers and the toiling masses.
4. No bailouts for big corporations, implement bail-outs for the working class.
5. Cancellation, not simply relief, of the onerous foreign debt of poor developing countries.
6. Suspension and renegotiation of unequal trade agreements.
7. Mobilize science and technology for the people.
8. Nationalize public health systems, resist and condemn neoliberal polices.
9. Respect democratic and human rights; release all political prisoners.
10. Lift sanctions against 30 countries and territories including Cuba, Venezuela, Palestine and the DPRK.
11. Rechannel the military budget to public health and social services.

We need to educate the people, expose the roots of the crisis, know the needs of the people and find ways to support them, and oppose increasing militarism and fascist measures.

Fight back imperialism and fascism!
Assert people’s welfare and rights!
Struggle for sovereignty, democracy and socialism!

CPA (M-L) affiliates to ICOR

9 November 2019
The Communist Party of Australia (Marxist-Leninist) has officially affiliated to the International Coordination of Revolutionary Parties and Organisations (ICOR). The decision to affiliate was debated and approved by the 15th National Party Congress held in June earlier this year.

The ICOR is an international union for the organisation of practical cooperation and coordination for the activity of revolutionary organisations and parties around the world, and for mutual support in class struggle and party building. It currently consists of 56 parties and organisations from 46 countries.

Affiliated parties and organisations unite on equal terms, and respect the differences between member organisations in terms of their size, practical, organisational and political experience, historical-ideological roots, and their strategic tasks based on the concrete socio-economic conditions of each country. The ICOR Founding Resolution includes a revolutionary, anti-imperialist, anti-revisionist and anti-Trotskyite platform, which forms a basis for achieving unity in all essential questions by an interrelated process of theoretical discussion and practical work.

Our affiliation to ICOR is a reflection of the Party’s conscious decision to deepen our connections with the international revolutionary movement. Joining ICOR presents us with the opportunity to make new connections, share analysis and gain deeper understanding on key questions related to the revolutionary struggle being waged around the world by the working class and oppressed people against capitalist imperialism. As the crisis of imperialism intensifies worldwide, so too does the threat of imperialist world war, the strengthening of reaction and the trend to fascism, and the intensified exploitation of the workers and masses. The need for international coordination and cooperation between revolutionary parties and organisations is becoming increasingly clear.

Long live proletarian internationalism!
Workers and oppressed people of the world, unite!
